Baby Showers

It's hard to believe that Alexis is expected to make her arrival in only six weeks! The past two weekends I was blessed beyond blessed by family and friends who showered us with love and gifts for our little girl.

Two weekends ago my mother in law Mona hosted a shower at my parents' house. Warning: this post is going to be a bit picture heavy.

Wearing my clothespin, which I didn't keep long because I said the word "baby"
Can't believe we are so close to meeting her!
Most of the guests were Greg's family, but the ladies sitting nearest to me have known me most of my life.
Alexis' Great Grandma Donna, Grandma Tina, Aunt Jaime, and Great Grandma Betty
This is the only picture I got of Greg's mom, I was a little preoccupied. From left: Great Aunt Barb, Grandma Mona, Grandpa Adams, and my sister Brittney's mother in law Rhonda (I thought it was so nice that she came!)
Grandma Adams with cousin Macie
A darling fruit plate that Alexis' Great Aunt Patti made
Had to post some of the darling gifts
A photography book that my sister got for me. She later surprised me with a Project Life package.  Project Life is basically a new/easier way to scrapbook. I have yet to start it, but my sister has loved it and I can't wait to document our daughter's life through Project Life.
Macie really enjoyed herself at the shower. She is going to be  such a fun cousin for Alexis to have around.
This past weekend my cousins Evelyn, Sarah, and Janell hosted a baby shower for Alexis and me.

My bff Erin from college and her mom MaryAnn were able to make it. Her mom was with us when I picked out my wedding dress so it was only fitting that she be a part of this milestone as well.
With some friends that I gained through marriage. Glad Greg had such good taste in friends while at OSU because now I have Kira and Sara in my life! Sara is expecting a little girl three weeks before our due date.
My new sister in law and Alexis' Aunt Nikki
For some reason my mom's camera was acting up and blurry, but I edited the photos as best I could. They were still too special not to share. My Aunt Linda in this picture lives just down the street from Greg and me and she and my uncle are our new landlords. So thankful for her!
Looking forward to Mom and Macie being a part of Alexis'  life.
Katrina (Macie's mom) made me this diaper cake. Didn't she  do a great job?
With four of my ten cousins. So thankful for these incredible women and the close relationship that we  have.
Family who came to my shower
Macie did so well at the shower and even entertained us for a while.
Daddy Ty with Macie
My brother Tyler was at both of my showers which was so special because it wasn't a Jack and Jill invite. I didn't think he would want to go, but he did. It meant a lot since Britt could not be here for my showers. At the first shower he wrote parenting advice for Greg and me. He told us to be patient with Alexis and to know that we have a lot of people in our lives who love us and will help out any way that they can. At the end he added a message for Greg, "massages help keep the women calm!" ha ha ha. At the second shower he wrote a very heartfelt message in a card for me. It was so sweet that I cried. He shared a list of qualities that I have that will make me a wonderful mother. And he said that he knows I will be a great mom because I am so much like our mom. Aaaah! That card will be kept and treasured forever.

Now that the showers are over I can begin organizing and getting her room ready. Hoping to also get the house decorated and in order as well. I keep putting those things on the back burner since we moved in. Stay tuned for pics of our new place!

3 Years of Marriage

Today we are celebrating our anniversary. It is hard to believe that we have been a part of one another's lives for over 5 years and been married for 3! As we attended many weddings this summer we reminisced about our own many times and both agreed that it was a relaxing, fun filled day. I still remember waking up at 6am that morning and not being able to fall back asleep because I was so excited to marry my best friend. The whole day was such a great time filled with family and friends. We could not have asked for a better wedding or better way to start our life journey together.

And now we are about to embark on another journey as a couple, parenthood. I know it will bring about new challenges to our relationship that we have not yet faced, but I am so glad that Greg is the man on my side to help me through those challenging and rewarding times! I have been told that our marriage will never be the same after welcoming our little girl into our lives, but I look forward to the new things we will learn about each other and growth we will see in our marriage.

I love you Greg, Happy Anniversary!

Weekend Recap

I think Greg and I have had something going on every single weekend of August. While it has been an incredibly busy month, it has been fun to see family and friends and appreciate the ease in which we can pick up and go places as a couple before our little girl comes into our lives.

Greg working at the Hilton Garden Inn does come with some perks at times. We receive free tickets to many events such as Cirque Du Soleil which we went to to in the fall and the Track and Field Olympic Trials just a couple of months ago. On Friday we got free admission to the Lane County fair after we volunteered with other HGI employees at the BINGO tent. I didn't realize this, but each year SUB (Springfield Utility Board) uses the BINGO proceeds to set up a fund for low income families in the winter to provide them heat in their homes. What an excellent cause to volunteer for and reason to play some BINGO!
When we got to the tent, Greg's employees insisted he step in to call the numbers for BINGO
He wasn't thrilled about this task, but he did a great job and even fit some BINGO jokes in there:)
Afterwards we ate some incredibly disgusting, yet delicious fair food and walked around for a bit. I myself have never been much of a fan of fairs, but Greg really enjoys them. Unfortunately his wife is so cheap that she wouldn't allow him to spend money on tickets to play any games :( Poor guy.

On Saturday, our little girl was celebrated at a baby shower hosted by my mother in law at my parents' house. I did not take any pictures at the event, but will get some of the pictures others took to share in a later post.

Finally on Sunday, we attended the Willamette Country Music Festival in Brownsville (again free admission through HGI).
A country music festival isn't complete without a monster truck
Of course we get there and it seems like it got 15 degrees warmer than when we left home. We didn't bring sunscreen, thank goodness for the First Aid tent! No sunburns for us :)
The Band Perry was the reason I wanted to come to this day of the festival. They were excellent and I enjoyed their performance a lot. They sounded decent live as well, which is saying something these days.
Our seats weren't too bad, and we had a good enough view of the big screen .
Trace Atkins was the closing act. I know his music, but he isn't one of my favorites. We hung out for a few of his songs and then left early to try and beat the traffic.
Even though I am ready for fall weather, I will miss mild temp summer evenings.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Hawaiian Visitors

My sister Brittney and her husband Kyle had a 9 hour layover in Oregon today on their way back to Hawaii from Las Vegas. Kyle's parents picked them up at PDX in the morning and the rest of the family met up with them at the Clackamas Town Center to sit and visit at the food court for a while. We got lunch at Red Robin and then spent the afternoon at Kyle's parents' house. It was so much fun seeing them if only for a short time. I hadn't seen Britt for 6 months and I think that is the longest we have ever been apart.

Britt and Kyle
Sisters reunited
The "kids" as mom and dad referred to all of us
Greg taking his turn at frisbee golf
Kyle, Greg, and Ty
Us girls decided to just sit and watch :)
Greg and I plan to visit Britt and Kyle sometime in the next year, but I'm hoping she can make it out to Oregon again when our little girl is born. Why can't airfare be cheaper?!

32 Weeks Pregnant

Well, we are 32 weeks pregnant now and I can't believe how quickly the time continues to go by. Here are a few pregnancy/baby updates by numbers.

2 : the number of days this past week I have experienced Braxton Hicks contractions. They seemed to go away shortly after elevating my feet for a while though.

3: the average number of times I have been getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

1: month until our birthing classes begin. Our last birthing class is on our due date so we'll see if baby girl decides to wait or not.

2: baby showers for our little girl coming up this month.

3-4: days a week that I am still jogging/walking. I really want to keep the jogging going through this month and then I'll stick to walking through the month of September.

1: day of subbing that I have scheduled for the month of September. I will sub for my aunt's kindergarten class. I figure, I may be exhausted at the end of it, but at least I'll make some money.

1: navel piercing that I had hoped I wouldn't have to remove, but am now thinking it needs to come out. Sure it was a fun thing to have at 19 years old and I'm glad I did it. It shouldn't be that big of a deal to take it out and let it close up, but I'm having a hard time taking the plunge. It is just getting to be a little too uncomfortable (even while wearing the rubber kind made for expanding bellies).

A Teune Wedding

I know it seems like I have been pretty "blog happy" lately, but we have been going nonstop the past week or so with picture and blog worthy things. Greg's younger brother Eric married his beautiful bride Nikki on Sunday and Greg and I were both in the wedding. Our day began at 9:15am when Greg dropped me off at the wedding venue The Aerie at Eagle Landing in Clackamas. The girls road in the limo to Portland to get our hair and makeup done.
The reader board at the Aerie
Propping my feet up at the table with my mother in law. It had been a LONG day already!
Greg and his stepsister Megan. We had finished photos and had some down time before the festivities began.
With my handsome husband. It was fun being color coordinate for the day!
With the beautiful bride and my now sister in law. I don't know if you can see the necklace I am wearing, but while we were getting hair and makeup done Greg put my dress in the changing room for me. When we got to the room to change I went to get my dress and there was a Fred Meyer Jeweler bag hanging with it. He had bought me a beautiful necklace! I would have cried, but didn't want to ruin my just finished makeup. He made my day, I am such a blessed woman.
Nikki and Eric at dinner. They had dinner served prior to the ceremony and it all worked out quite well. They greeted everyone as they came in for the meal and then didn't have to worry about getting around to everyone at the reception.
A couple of the flower girls. The one in the pink dress wasn't dressed yet, but she couldn't stop looking at herself in the mirror and spinning around. She was adorable! I love it when children delight in themselves :)

We have had a lot of fun at photo booths this summer!

I am in love with this picture
My father in law got in on the fun too
Had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery for a photo opp

I am in mid laugh here. Later on the actual photographer grabbed Greg and I for some photos.
The Teune boys. Most difficult group to get a good picture from... but at least I captured them in typical form.
Sending off the bride and groom (a great example as to why I want a nicer camera, to capture weird lighting moments like this much better... maybe someday.)
Off to the honeymoon!
Okay, this didn't turn out real well, but Eric forgot something and had to go back inside to get it. While he was gone my father in law tried to sneak away in the limo with Nikki... yeah didn't work out too well.

While the day was very long (9:15am-10:15pm) it was a great celebration with family. I will share a few of the professional photos when they come. We have another wedding in September where I will be about 38 weeks pregnant, and then another in November where we will get to bring our little girl with us. It has definitely been a summer of weddings! Hope you all have been enjoying your summer and survived the HOT weekend.
